Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has been warned he will be faced by a “furious” Aaron Ramsdale if he drops him in the Champions League. The Gunners have signed David Raya as competition for the goalkeeper and Stephen Warnock reckons it could cause issues down the line.

Arsenal will be back in the Champions League group stage for the first time since 2016. Ramsdale played a key part in their second-placed finish in the Premier League last season, playing every minute of the campaign.
Matt Turner was deputy to the England international but has since joined Nottingham Forest on a permanent deal. Raya has joined Arsenal on loan with an option to buy set at £27million.
The Spaniard has been a constant for Brentford in recent seasons and has impressed since their promotion to the top flight. Warnock believes Ramsdale will keep his spot for the time being in the Premier League.

But Arteta has rotated his keeper in European competition in the past. Warnock says, if Ramsdale is dropped for the Champions League, Arteta will have a stroppy player knocking on the door of his office.
The former Liverpool left-back said on Sky Sports News: “I still think he’s No 1, Ramsdale, I really do. I just think it’s a case of if he was to pick up an injury, then they’ve got quality to come in.
“I think what you noticed in Europe last season was that when Matt Turner came in, they weren’t probably able to play the same way out from the back. Matt Turner’s a great shot-stopper but is he as good with the ball at his feet as Raya? No, absolutely not.
“Is he as good as Ramsdale? No, he’s not. So that is where it changes the way you play as a team.

Arsenal play Crystal Palace on Monday evening, with Raya in line to be named in his first match-day squad. Arteta insists no player is a certainty to start.
Asked if he has a No 1 goalkeeper, he said: “In any position? No. Nine, seven, 11, six, goalkeeper – no, there isn’t.”
