Manchester City star Jack Grealish has opened up on he and Kyle Walker being told to “shut up” by Bukayo Saka on international duty after the pair taunted the Arsenal man over last season’s title race. The Gunners sat top of the table for the majority of the season, but a late charge from Pep Guardiola’s side saw them pip Arsenal to another title on their way to a famous treble.

With the wounds still fresh, shortly after the season ended the likes of Saka, Grealish and Walker were all called up to Gareth Southgate’s England squad where the two sets of players reacted to their heated battle for the title.
For Sky Sports, Erling Haaland quizzed Grealish about meeting up with Saka shortly after getting the better of Arsenal. He asked: “How much banter have you had with your Arsenal/England teammates about winning the league? So for example, after you won the treble, you went to the national team…”
The England man replied: “Afterwards, it was bit of a sore point for them, I think. I didn’t want to say too much.” But Grealish revealed that in an earlier international camp, Saka was forced to go to extreme lengths to stop the winger and Walker.

“I remember in the March camp. Me and [Kyle] Walker kept saying to Saks… we’d shake his hand and he was like, ‘What you shaking my hand for?’ We were saying, ‘Well done. You’ve already won the league’, Grealish added.
“He was just laughing. We play them at the weekend. I’m not going to be messaging him on Saturday night trying to banter him because that’s when you’re in your own zone and you’re in your own space. You take stuff seriously but at the time, Erling will tell you, I like a laugh and a joke and stuff and I do it with everyone here.

“I get on really well with Sacks and Declan [Rice], who is there now. When we’re away, there’s always time for banter and stuff. Yeah, me and Walker were just saying to him, ‘Congratulations, you’ve won the league.’ He was just like, ‘Shut up, stop trying to get in my head’.”
Grealish and Walker did get the last laugh over Saka as their victories over Arsenal in February and April, either side of their jibe to Saka, was the catalyst for their charge towards the title under Pep Guardiola.
The Arsenal star will be hoping to get revenge on Sunday, as Saka and his side have a chance to beat City at the Emirates and go top of the table in the process with a victory.
