Arteta really wants Arsenal to sign player praised by Declan
ARTETA REALLY WANTS ARSENAL TO SIGN PLAYER PRAISED BY DECLAN RICE
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta wants to bring Marc Guehi to North London, believing the Crystal Palace man is key to the club’s future.
Marc Guehi is becoming a top target for Arsenal ahead of 2024 – and Mikel Arteta is prepared to wait for him.
That is according to The Sun, who claim that Arsenal are ready to fight for the signing of Guehi.
The former Chelsea defender has flourished since his 2021 move to Palace and the top Premier League clubs are now interested.
Palace paid £18million to sign Guehi over two years ago but now stand to make a huge profit on the England defender…
Mikel Arteta really wants Marc Guehi at Arsenal
The Sun now suggest that Arsenal are ‘huge admirers’ of Guehi and the interest appears to be driven by Arteta.
It’s stated that Arteta sees Guehi as part of Arsenal’s long-term plans, seemingly planning a big role for him.
Arteta is therefore ‘willing and happy’ to wait for Guehi to become available, with a January move seen as very unlikely.
Palace are only expected to consider a deal next summer at the earliest, meaning Premier League clubs are now queueing up.
Manchester City, Manchester City and former club Chelsea are all interested too, meaning Arteta faces a major battle.
It’s added that Guehi is likely to cost more than Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who remains Palace’s club-record sale at £50million.

My view: Marc Guehi push a little surprising
Arsenal will back themselves to beat the competition to Guehi, just as they did for Declan Rice this past summer.
Arteta being so desperate to land Guehi is a little surprising though, even if the 23-year-old is a quality defender.
Rice himself is a big fan, calling Guehi ‘intelligent’ earlier this season.
Arsenal already has a top right-footed centre back in William Saliba, whilst Ben White and Jurrien Timber can also play in that role.
Unless Arteta plans to play with two right-footed centre backs – which would be a surprise given the signings of Gabriel Magalhaes and Jakub Kiwior – then signing Guehi would be a surprise.
Guehi would cost huge money and Arteta is seemingly a huge fan, so there may well be a grand plan in mind for the Arsenal boss.
It doesn’t quite add up for us right now unless Arsenal want very expensive cover and competition for Saliba.
