Arsenal have released a statement backing Mikel Arteta and calling for the PGMOL to make changes and Michael Owen is fuming with the response.

Arsenal were left reeling after a triple VAR check went against them as they lost 1-0 to Newcastle United.

The Gunners felt the ball was out of play before a push on Gabriel also went unpunished in the box before Anthony Gordon tapped in.

A statement has been released today by the club backing their manager and players. However, it’s not gone down well with some, with Michael Owen slamming the club and Arteta.

Arteta has been in bother more than once this season with officials and is building a bit of a reputation for himself as being a bit over-animated on the touchline.

Certainly, it’s not gone down well and Owen is quite obviously miffed at the entire club here.

Arsenal need to get a grip at times
The outrage just over a few decisions is quite remarkable. Mikel Arteta has not said a word about the lunge from Kai Havertz but is demanding change to suit his own team here.

It’s getting out of hand and quite frankly the officials are in a no win situation. Clubs asked for VAR for years and now it’s here, the game is over complicated and every decision hammered.

Arsenal need to concentrate on winning games and playing well against good teams. This is all a distraction tactic from a team falling short when it mattered again.

The statement from Arsenal is quite something and it will be interesting to see how the PGMOL react, if they do at all.
