Arsenal ‘ready to sell’ Mikel Arteta favourite to fund three-man January transfer list
Arsenal are prepared to offload Thomas Partey in the January transfer window as manager Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his squad.
The Gunners went top of the Premier League table on Saturday evening with a 1-0 win over Brentford.
Kai Havertz’s 89th minute header was enough to snatch all three points at the Gtech Community Stadium. Manchester City’s 1-1 draw with Liverpool earlier in the day means Arsenal are now a point clear at the summit.
Arsenal are already looking at how to bolster their ranks in the winter as they search for a first Premier League title since 2004.

Per ESPN, Arteta is willing to allow Partey a move away if it means he can allocate funds elsewhere.
The 30-year-old featured 33 times in the league last season, although Declan Rice’s arrival over the summer has impacted his game time.
He’s struggled with fitness this season and will likely miss all of January playing for Ghana at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Arsenal were prepared to let Partey depart following Rice’s transfer but no suitable bid arrived. Juventus are said to be admirers and could make a move.
Back in March, Arteta praised Partey for bringing stability to the Arsenal midfield during a 4-0 win over Everton.

He said per Football-Ghana: “I think the team grew, especially with Thomas [Partey] because Jorginho wasn’t feeling good today.

“When he came on he gave us some presence and stability to the team and I think the second half was superb.”
Arteta’s dream midfield signing is Aston Villa star Douglas Luiz. Under Unai Emery, Luiz has been one of the best midfielders in the league and he’s helped Villa to 4th place.
Speaking after Sunday’s 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur, Emery stressed he’s keen to keep hold of Luiz despite interest from North London.
He told reporters: “He is a very important player but is also very happy here so of course we want to keep him.”

Arsenal could choose to make a move for Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Pedro Neto. They hold a long-standing interest in Neto, who could challenge Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli on the flanks.
It’s a position Arsenal are light in due to Emile Smith Rowe’s injury issues. Leandro Trossard and Reiss Nelson are the only two other options at Arteta’s disposal.
They remain interested in a new striker, with Ivan Toney their preferred option.

Brentford forward Toney is serving a gambling ban but is edging closer to a return. The Bees are hellbent on keeping the 27-year-old until the summer.

Arsenal ‘need to sell’ several top players to fund Ivan Toney transfer
Arsenal need to sell several players to fund a big-money move for Brentford star Ivan Toney, it has been reported.
Toney is currently serving an eight-month ban from football imposed by the FA by betting breaches.
He has not played in the 2023/24 season as a result, but he will be able to return to football in mid-January – opening the door for a potential January transfer.
According to Sky Sports, Brentford are demanding a fee of £100 million for their star striker, and are keen to keep him for at least the rest of the season as they push for European football under Thomas Frank.

As a result, Arsenal would need to sell to buy, given concerns over Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations and the big-spending summer which saw them splash out over £200 million on Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and Jurrien Timber.
The Gunners did manage to secure a number of major sales over the summer, with Granit Xhaka and Folarin Balogun leaving for a combined fee of £50 million. Fringe players Pablo Mari and Rob Holding were among the other senior players to depart the Emirates Stadium.
But according to The Athletic, Arsenal will need to raise a significant sum of money in order to fund the signing of the 27-year-old in January.

As per Transfermarkt values, the Gunners may need to sell a number of first team players to raise enough to match Brentford’s valuation of the striker.
Fringe centre-back Jakub Kiwior (€25 million) and defensive midfielder Thomas Partey (€35 million) could both be sacrificed, with a number of clubs having expressed interest in the latter.
A wildcard option could be goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale (€30 million), given his lack of gametime since being usurped by David Raya as Arsenal’s shot-stopper in the Premier League and Champions League.
Emile Smith Rowe, meanwhile, is valued at €30 million by Transfermarkt, and would bring up the quartet of players that Arteta may need to sell if he decides to look for more first team opportunities elsewhere.

Alongside the Norway international in the image below is 17-year-old Ayden Heaven.

In an interview with Arsenal’s official website earlier this year, Heaven revealed he was a fan of Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott while growing up.
He explained: “Growing up I was a huge Arsenal fan and one of my favourite players was Alexis Sanchez.

“He always managed to pick out a goal when we needed it. I was also a big fan of Theo Walcott, he had great movement, his pace was lethal and he was a deadly finisher in front of goal. I think he’s one of Arsenal’s most under-rated players.”
Heaven’s chances of making it to the first team are high under Arteta. Since arriving at the Emirates Stadium in 2019, he’s made use of the youngsters at his disposal.
Bukayo Saka, Eddie Nketiah, Emile Smith Rowe and Reiss Nelson have all had standout moments, while Gabriel Martinelli has improved.

He continued: “I was one of the lucky few to get my scholarship a year early, so I knew this time last year that I was going to be playing for the under-18s at London Colney.
“Seeing the first team players like Saka, Martinelli, Nketiah and Odegaard etc. is amazing because we look up to them and it’s inspiring.
“I’ve trained with the first team a couple of times and the intensity is crazy! You get dizzy sometimes because it’s at such a quick tempo.

Don’t rule out Heaven making a brief cameo on Saturday. Last season, Arteta handed 15-year-old Ethan Nwaneri his debut away to Brentford, making him the youngest player in Premier League history.

Mikel Arteta is ready to put seven of his players up for sale this summer to take his Arsenal side to the next level.
Arsenal are in pole position to win their first Premier League title in almost 20 years, with their performances being deserving of it to say the least.
The Gunners have taken everyone by surprise this season, including their own fans, as not many even had them down as finishing in the top 4, let alone as title challengers.
Despite their outstanding showings and performances in the league this season, Arsenal have fallen short in cup competitions having been knocked out of the FA and League Cups in the early rounds, and just two weeks ago they were dumped out of Europe on penalties by Sporting Lisbon at home.

The next step then for this young Arsenal team, is to have a squad that is able to compete on all fronts next season as Arteta will be expected to bring them to that next level.
As that is the primary aim, Arteta, according to The Sun, is prepared to listen to offers for seven fringe Arsenal players, including £72 million club record signing Nicolas Pepe.
Pepe is currently on loan at Nice, though his large wages may prove to be an obstacle in securing a deal away from the North London club.

Arteta may be forced to terminate his contract to get him off their books, similar to what he did with Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Sead Kolasinac and Hector Bellerin earlier in his tenure.
The Gunners are also prepared to listen to offers for the likes of Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Nuno Tavares, Pablo Mari, Cedric Soares and Alex Runarsson, with all of these players currently out on loan.
A couple of other players who could be next on the chopping block are Kieran Tierney, who has been given limited opportunities to impress this season under Arteta, and Folarin Balogun, who has had an outstanding goalscoring season on loan at Reims in France this season.

Arsenal missed out on top targets Mykhaylo Mudryk and Moises Caicedo in January though, but recovered to sign Jorginho and Leandro Trossard from their Premier League counter-parts, seeming to give the squad more options and depth in the back-end of this season.
Come the summer, Arsenal are poised to return with bids for Caicedo while they are also keeping tabs on Declan Rice, with the intention to strengthen their midfield.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has a four-man transfer shortlist after learning his January budget, it has been reported.
The Gunners spent big during the summer window, signing Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and Jurrien Timber for fees in excess of £200 million.
Arsenal have started the current campaign well and are unbeaten after eight games in the Premier League, although did lose 2-1 to Lens in the Champions League earlier this month.
Despite having spent large amounts in the summer, though, Arsenal are reportedly ready to push on in the January window as they look to secure their first Premier League title since 2004.

And Arteta reportedly has four players he would like to bring to the club.

According to the Daily Mirror, Brentford striker Ivan Toney is believed to be the team’s prime target as Arteta looks to add a new striker to his ranks.

Toney is currently serving a eight-month ban from football for breaching betting regulations, but will return to action in January and can therefore play a part in the second half of the campaign.
And the Gunners are also searching for a backup to Bukayo Saka on the right side of attack.
They have been linked with Wolves star Pedro Neto and RB Leipzig’s Dani Olmo, with Neto a player that the Gunners scouted when Arsene Wenger was in charge.
According to ESPN, Olmo’s release clause is set at between €60 and €65 million – which may prove a stumbling block for the Gunners.

That is because, as per The Athletic, funds are said to be relatively scarce – and players would need to be sold in order for Arteta to fund all the moves he wants to complete.
Arsenal are also monitoring PSG forward Ousmane Dembele, who is the fourth and final player on the shortlist, although he may be difficult to prize away from Parc des Princes as he only signed for the French club in the summer.
