Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been speaking about his side’s Premier League title chances after they defeated Burnley 2-0 on Boxing Day. Goals from Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota secured the Reds all three points at Turf Moor, sending them two points clear of Arsenal at the top of the table.
However, the Gunners do have a game in hand on the Merseyside-based club, taking on West Ham United at the Emirates Stadium tomorrow night. Klopp remained coy when asked about the title race, refusing to get too drawn into current league position.
“Fantastic,” the German said sarcastically when responding to a question on his squad climbing to the summit of the standings. “I can barely keep may arms down!
“Forty-two points. That’s really pleasing, that’s really cool because the first part of the season is done.
“It was absolutely all right what we did. Not perfect, but all right.

“It keeps us now that we cannot be more than a point away from the top of the table if Arsenal win, that’s within punching distance.” Aston Villa had been level with Liverpool at the start of Tuesday but Unai Emery’s men ended the day three points behind their title rivals after losing 3-2 to Manchester United.
Villa led 2-0 early on before a brace from Alejandro Garnacho turned things around, with Rasmus Hojlund netting the winner after eighty-two minutes. Meanwhile, reigning champions Manchester City are currently down in fifth, albeit having two games in hand on Liverpool.
