Plus, the England international has been banned for the last eight months for betting breaches and it seems Arsenal might need to look for an alternative striker to sign instead.
How about Bournemouth’s in-form star Dominic Solanke? The 26-year-old has 12 goals from 19 Premier League games this term.
Despite that prolific form, Ally McCoist thinks Arsenal simply have to stay away from that possible transfer because he has to prove his worth for ‘another season’, as he told talkSPORT (08/01/24 at 6:25 am).
Prior to the start of this current campaign, Dominic Solanke, who was a £19 million signing from Liverpool to Bournemouth in 2019, had 10 goals in 96 Premier League matches.
That proves that the now-rising star needs to sustain his form for much longer before he can take that step up again and sign for a Premier League title-chasing team.

“I think it’s a second option to Ivan Toney,” said McCoist. “I am not sure I would be taking a chance right now on Dominic Solanke, who has been in fantastic form recently.
“I would like to see him do it for another season before I was overly convinced.”

This could become the reality for Arsenal fans by the end of the January transfer window.
If that happens, then the mood and patience of the fanbase will be tested, especially if the club’s form continues to go down the wrong path.
The main issue clearly is with FFP and what the club can spend, but at the end of the day, the reason for that is because they have already spent a lot under Arteta.
So, from that perspective, the manager should be getting a lot more out of this current team, especially from an attacking sense.
