Done Deal? Arsenal have just made a bid to world class player and it is not Ivan Toney

Arsenal have had a bid rejected by Wolves for Rayan Ait-Nouri.

It is no secret at this point that the Gunners need some help at left-back. Oleksandr Zinchenko and Takehiro Tomiyasu have both struggled with injuries, as has Jurrien Timber, who hasn’t played since the first game of the season. Mikel Arteta is now reportedly eyeing a move for Ait-Nouri.

Arsenal’s bid for Rayan Ait-Nouri has been rejected
It has been suggested by several people including Fabrizio Romano that Arsenal are in the market for a new full-back in this window.

Oleksandr Zinchenko is one of the best in the game when he has the ball at his feet, but he has struggled defensively against the better players. Jakub Kiwior hasn’t been great in that role either, while Takehiro Tomiyasu has also had his injury struggles.

A move for a new left full-back makes a lot of sense, and Football Transfers reveal today that Arsenal have made a proposal to sign Rayan Ait-Nouri from Wolves.

The 22-year-old has been in the Premier League for over two seasons now, and he has made a very good name for himself at the Molineux.

Now, the report claims that he is of interest to both Arsenal and Liverpool, but the Gunners’ first proposal has been turned down.

It has been revealed that Ait-Nouri could leave in the summer or even in the next two weeks, but it would take an offer in excess of £50 million to convince Wolves to let him go.

Too expensive for Arsenal
Rayan Ait-Nouri is a very good left-back, there is no debate there, but the price quoted above is just a bit ridiculous, isn’t it?

We know the market is inflated and clubs will have to pay more than usual in the January transfer window to get deals over the line, but £50 million for Ait-Nouri when Zinchenko and Tomiyasu combined cost less makes no sense.

Besides, the Wolves defender is currently away on international duty with Algeria at the African Cup of Nations, which means he won’t be available until February. That makes it even harder to justify signing him for big money.

In our opinion, Arsenal should either look elsewhere or just wait until the summer when we’re sure negotiations will be much easier.
