Fabrizio Romano says 23-year-old Arsenal almost signed in summer is now joining CL rivals

Arsenal have been heavily linked with Galatasaray’s Sacha Boey in recent months.

Indeed, there was one report in the summer claiming the Gunners were closing in on the 23-year-old.

Even though that came to nothing, speculation linking Arsenal with Boey has continued to do the rounds.

However, the Gunners appear to have missed their chance, with Fabrizio Romano saying the Frenchman is now going elsewhere.

The transfer insider took to X on Friday afternoon to declare “here we go” on Boey to Bayern Munich.

Romano claimed that Gala and Bayern have verbally agreed a deal, and now all the various parties will sort out the final details and the paperwork.

In addition, travel to Munich is being arranged, with a medical for Boey set to take place “soon”, added the Italian.

Romano then put out a follow-up tweet claiming Arsenal – and Paris Saint-Germain – “never entered the race” for Boey. It was “only Bayern”, who are now set to land Boey on a five-and-a-half-year contract.

Arsenal have missed out on an ‘amazing’ player in Sacha Boey – TBR View
It’s interesting to hear that Arsenal were never in the race for Boey, though it’s unclear whether that was the case this month or in the summer too.

Nevertheless, it’s a shame that the Gunners didn’t push for Boey, as he’d be ticking a lot of boxes for the player.

He’s young, very talented, has a high ceiling, has been playing for a big club where he’ll have got used to pressure, and was reportedly valued at less than £25million.

Target Scouting wrote last year that the 23-year-old “is a player with the potential to go anywhere”.

They also said Boey’s “competitive attitude is impeccable” and deemed him a “very interesting player”.

Interestingly, Arsenal cult hero Bacary Sagna called Boey ‘amazing’ a year ago, and urged the Gunners to sign him.
