The latest Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) news from the Premier League after Everton and Nottingham Forest were slapped with points deductions this season.

The appeal launched by Nottingham Forest against their four-point deduction for breaking Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) is set to heard this month. That’s according to reports from the Press Association news agency as financial concerns continue to take hold across the English top-flight this season.
Everton – through two separate breaches and one which was successfully appealed in part – have been deducted eight points with Forest handed a four-point penalty. Forest, similarly to Everton, went on to appeal their decision and are expected to go through that process from Monday, April 22.
It means Forest’s appeal could be heard in the week after they visit Everton in a crunch Premier League game next Sunday as both clubs battle against relegation to the Championship.

Premier League clubs are permitted to lose £105million across a three-year period under PSR guidelines. However, as Forest were in the Championship for part of the sequence in question, their PSR threshold was £61million and it was, seemingly, breached by £34.5million.
Forest cited delayed transfer business as a cause of their overspend and Brennan Johnson was sold to Tottenham last summer. That deal was not pushed through until deadline day as Forest claimed they wanted to maximise the £47million fee they received for a player who progressed through their academy.
As a result of the punishments which have been dished out this campaign, Everton are 16th in the Premier League with 27 points from 31 games. Forest are one place and point behind The Toffees – despite having played two more games – with Luton Town (25 points), Burnley (20 points) and Sheffield United (16 points) currently in the drop zone.
