Everton dealt ‘Devastating’ injury blow ahead of Premier League clash v Nottingham Forest

Everton have been dealt a “devastating” injury blow ahead of their Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest with three defenders set to miss the clash.

Jarrad Branthwaite, Seamus Coleman and Nathan Patterson were all forced off injured during the 6-0 defeat to Chelsea on Monday night (15 April).

And according to the Liverpool Echo (17 April), all three players look set to miss the big game at Goodison Park on Sunday (21 April) with Ben Godfrey and Michael Keane set to come into the side.

On Branthwaite’s absence specifically, the Echo wrote: “Given that the 21-year-old has been a revelation at the back for Everton this term, missing just one Premier League game through suspension since coming into the side in the third game of the campaign, with his form earning him a maiden England call-up, any absence would be a devastating blow.”

Everton are in trouble
There are big defensive problems at Goodison Park right now, even without the injury situations that have been thrust upon Sean Dyche.

Branthwaite seemed to pick up a muscle injury, which makes it highly unlikely that he’ll return to the squad for the Forest game, while Coleman and Patterson’s problems aren’t great either with the Scotland international’s injury described as “more serious”.

But with just one win in the last 15 games in all competitions and the team sitting just two points above the relegation zone, the team need to pick it up somehow.

Everton Sean Dyche
Everton and Sean Dyche have faced an unprecedented number of challenges this season
Michael Keane has been nothing short of a disaster for most of the season when he’s played so that won’t be ideal, while Godfrey’s run of nine consecutive starts saw no victories either.

It’s the worst possible time for Dyche to lose key players from his squad, and everything is beginning to come together for a horror end to the season.
