Everton: Sean Dyche sack update at Goodison Park after ‘desperate’ 6-0 loss to Chelsea
Sean Dyche is in no danger of being sacked by Everton despite the club’s miserable form, according to i News.
The outlet reported via their website on 17 April that despite calls from fans for the Toffees boss to be relieved of his duties thanks to a “desperate” run form, culminating in the 6-0 “collapse” on Monday night (15 April) away to Chelsea, he is “under no threat” at Goodison Park.
The fact that without two points deductions this season Everton would be eight better off and safe from danger is highlighted as what makes this stance “fair”.
Dyche has overseen a single Premier League win since the start of 2024, a 1-0 win over former side Burnley on 6 April thanks to a fortuitous Dominic Calvert-Lewin goal.
Can Everton even afford to sack Sean Dyche?
It would certainly be reasonable of the Toffees or Dyche himself to point out that their spot in the table (currently 16th, two points from the bottom three with a game in hand) is arguably a false one when he has recorded eight more points on the pitch this term.
The first deduction of six down from 10 on appeal, and a second two-point sanction that is still subject to appeal, have clearly had an effect on the squad even if it has been dismissed as a reasonable excuse by some.
But under normal circumstances Dyche would surely expect to be under pressure either way given the dreadful record since the turn of the year.

There are certainly reasons to criticise him this season but in practice it has to be in question as to how it would work if he was removed.

Presumably 777 Partners would have to plow yet more loan money in to pay off the coach and his staff, while the expense would further worsen the profit and sustainability picture for the current season, which is already threatening to land Everton with a third spending charge.
And that is before the question of who would be available, willing, and affordable to appoint as his replacement.
So while it is quite valid for supporters to question the manager after one win in four months, even allowing for the endless off-field issues, whether it is actually possible is open to debate.
