Everton team news v Nottingham Forest: Sean Dyche shares new Nathan Patterson update

Everton manager Sean Dyche has confirmed that Nathan Patterson’s season is over ahead of the Toffees’ clash with Nottingham Forest, according to Joe Thomas.

The Blues welcome Nuno Espirito Santos’s side to Goodison Park on Sunday (21 April) in a crucial showdown at the bottom of the Premier League, with a single point separating the two sides.

While Dyche confirmed Jarrad Branthwaite, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Idrissa Gueye all took part in some form of training on Friday (19 April) the Everton boss didn’t reveal whether any of the four players would feature.

Writing for the Liverpool Echo on Friday (19 April) Thomas said: “Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Jarrad Branthwaite trained lightly today. Patterson is out for the season.

“Seamus Coleman is touch and go at best for the weekend. Gueye trained today – low-level training.”

It’s not an exaggeration to say that Sunday’s meeting with Forest could potentially be the biggest game of Everton’s season as a win over Forest would act as a massive step towards safety for the Toffees this year.

Off-the-field drama over the last few weeks has overshadowed the bleak performances on the pitch from Dyche’s side, but if they genuinely want to dodge the drop this season, they have to start winning more games, especially against teams in and around them.
