Leeds Should be in the race to sign £52m striker that is now available for free

Leeds United should consider signing former £52m striker Luka Jovic this summer, who will be available for free. Jovic, once dubbed a ‘wonderkid’, impressed at Eintracht Frankfurt before joining Real Madrid in 2019. However, he struggled at Madrid, scoring just three goals in 51 appearances, and is now playing for AC Milan in Serie A.

Despite his struggles, Jovic has netted nine goals in 28 appearances this season, and his contract expires in June. Leeds United, who previously enquired about Jovic in 2022, should reignite their interest in the 26-year-old striker. With promotion to the Premier League on the line, Leeds need a striker who fits Daniel Farke’s system, and Jovic’s mobility and link-up play make him an ideal candidate.

Farke has a track record of getting the best out of his players, and Jovic’s profile is similar to that of Teemu Pukki, who was prolific under Farke at Norwich City. If Jovic can rediscover his Frankfurt form, Leeds could secure a bargain of the window on a free transfer.

Leeds United’s current striker, Joel Piroe, has struggled to deliver, and Jovic would be a welcome addition to the squad. With his contract expiring in June, Leeds should act quickly to secure his signature and bolster their attack for the upcoming season.
