Everton manager Sean Dyche faces a challenging summer transfer window, where he must navigate the club’s limited funds to strengthen his squad. While Director of Football Kevin Thelwell has hinted at the need for major sales, he will likely aim to offload unwanted players to raise funds. One such player is Neal Maupay, who has failed to impress during his time at Goodison Park.

Maupay’s Everton career has been underwhelming, scoring just once in his debut season before being loaned out to Brentford. Despite netting six Premier League goals for the Bees, they declined to make the transfer permanent. His antics while on loan, including criticizing Everton fans, have not endeared him to the Toffees faithful.

With Maupay’s style not suiting Dyche’s physical-focused regime, his future at the club looks bleak. At 5’8″, he struggles to fit into Dyche’s preferred striker mold, and his £50,000-a-week wages make him an attractive candidate for sale. While Maupay’s exit would be a positive move for Everton, Dyche and Thelwell still face challenges in other areas of the squad. The departure of Jack Harrison and Arnaut Danjuma has left the team thin on the wings, with only Lewis Dobbin and Dwight McNeil available. Additionally, the full-back positions require reinforcement to reduce the reliance on Ashley Young, who should be transitioning to a bench role at 38.
