“Welcome back to Leeds United” Despite losing out on promotion to the Premier league, Man City offers Kalvin Phillips to Leeds for a ridiculously low amount so player can…….

Manchester City Set to Offload Kalvin Phillips After Disappointing Loan Spell

Kalvin Phillips’ Manchester City career appears to be drawing to a close, with the club prepared to accept a “significant” offer for the midfielder this summer. According to senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke, City are eager to recoup some of the £45million they paid to sign Phillips from Leeds United in 2022.

Phillips’ time at City has been marked by disappointment and frustration. He struggled to establish himself in the first team and was subsequently loaned out to West Ham United in the second half of the season. However, his temporary stint at the London Stadium was a disaster, with the England international failing to impress and the Hammers abandoning any plans to sign him permanently.

City’s £40million asking price has already deterred several clubs from making a move for Phillips, but the Citizens are willing to listen to offers and will not stand in the player’s way if a suitable bid is received. Phillips’ contract runs until 2028, but it seems unlikely that he will see out the remainder of his deal at the Etihad Stadium.

The 28-year-old’s reputation has taken a significant hit over the past two years, with his poor form and attitude issues contributing to his downfall. Phillips was criticized by West Ham coaches for his lack of effort in training and behind the scenes, and he has since lost his place in the England squad.

City are now looking to cash in on Phillips and use the funds to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season. While a return to Leeds United had been mooted, that option appears unlikely following the Whites’ defeat in the Championship play-off final against Southampton.

Phillips’ departure would mark the end of a disappointing chapter in his career, but City are eager to move on and bring in fresh talent to bolster their squad. With the transfer window set to reopen next month, it remains to be seen who will take a chance on the former Leeds United star.
