Manchester United legend Ruud van Nistelrooy had a shocking plan to terminate Jarrad Branthwaite’s loan deal at PSV Eindhoven, sources have revealed to Football Insider. Van Nistelrooy, who managed Branthwaite during his season-long loan spell at the Dutch club in the 2022-23 campaign, was open to sending the defender back to Everton in January 2023.According to sources, Branthwaite wasn’t featuring much under Van Nistelrooy during the first half of the season, starting just three Dutch Eredivisie matches before the winter break.

Now, he is valued by Everton at around £80million, and has held discussions about a mega-money move to United.
Interestingly, Van Nistelrooy is in talks with Manchester United about returning to the club to join Erik Ten Haag’s coaching team. If things go according to plan, there’s a chance that Van Nistelrooy and Branthwaite could reunite at Old Trafford.
However, United will face stiff competition trying to sign the 21-year-old, as he’s an in-demand player this summer with several Premier League sides looking to sign him. Chelsea is one side that could look to hijack the bid, but Man United are expected to submit a new offer. This transfer saga has all the makings of a blockbuster deal, with one of the Premier League’s top young defenders potentially joining one of the biggest clubs in the world.
