French club ‘trying to agree personal terms’ with Leeds United star – and it’s not Illan Meslier

Leeds United midfielder Glen Kamara is the latest player to be linked with a move away from Elland Road, with French club Stade Rennais reportedly trying to agree personal terms with the Finland international.

According to Ouest France, Stade Rennais are keen to strengthen their midfield this summer and have identified Kamara as their top target. The Ligue 1 side are said to be trying to strike a deal with Kamara before approaching Leeds United to discuss a transfer fee.

However, it’s unlikely that Leeds will be willing to sell Kamara, who only joined the club last summer from Rangers in a deal worth around £5million. The 27-year-old played a key role in Leeds’ promotion to the Premier League, making 37 appearances in the Championship last season.

Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has praised Kamara’s quality and experience, and it’s clear that the midfielder is an important part of his plans. Farke has highlighted Kamara’s ability to dictate the rhythm of the game and his decision-making on the pitch, and has also praised his character and teamwork.

Kamara himself has expressed his happiness at Leeds United, telling LUTV that he feels at home at the club and is enjoying his time in Yorkshire. The Finland international is under contract at Elland Road until 2027, and it’s likely that Leeds will resist any attempts to prise him away from the club.

The news of Stade Rennais’ interest in Kamara comes as Leeds United prepare for the new season, which kicks off in August. The Whites have already seen one player leave the club this summer, with Archie Gray joining Tottenham Hotspur in a player-plus-cash deal that involved Joe Rodon.

Several other Leeds players have been linked with moves away from Elland Road, including Crysencio Summerville, Wilfried Gnonto, Georginio Rutter, and Diego Llorente. However, it’s unclear at this stage whether any of these players will actually leave the club.

Leeds United fans will be hoping that Kamara remains at the club, given his importance to the team’s midfield. The Finland international has already shown his quality in the Championship, and his experience and leadership will be crucial in the Premier League next season.

As the transfer window continues to unfold, Leeds United fans will be keeping a close eye on developments at Elland Road. With the club’s return to the Premier League comes increased scrutiny and attention, and it’s likely that there will be plenty of twists and turns before the window closes in September.

For now, however, Glen Kamara remains a Leeds United player, and fans will be hoping that he stays at the club for the foreseeable future.
