Agents informed as int’L ace decides on next move after West Ham bid tabled – report

West Ham United’s pursuit of Jean-Clair Todibo has hit a snag, as the Nice defender has informed his agents that he only wants to join Juventus.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Todibo is willing to wait for a move to the Serie A giants, where he hopes to emulate his idol, Lilian Thuram, the father of his current teammate Khéphren Thuram.

Despite West Ham’s offer of €35m (£29.5m) for Todibo, the player’s heart is set on Juventus, and the Hammers have reacted by completing the signing of Max Kilman from Wolverhampton Wanderers for £40million. While adding Todibo to their squad would have been a significant boost, West Ham are no longer pursuing the French defender. However, the door may not be entirely closed, as Todibo’s patience with Juventus is not infinite. If a move to Turin doesn’t materialize by the end of the transfer window, West Ham may still have a chance to sign him.

Nevertheless, the club’s management, led by Julen Lopetegui and Tim Steidten, may choose to explore other options rather than wait for Todibo’s decision. The signing of Kilman is a positive step for West Ham, but the club’s defense may still undergo significant changes before the end of the transfer window. Nayef Aguerd and Kurt Zouma are both attracting interest from other clubs, and their sales could lead to a renewed push for Lyon’s Jake O’Brien, a cheaper alternative to Todibo.

West Ham’s transfer activity has been significant this summer, with the signings of Kilman, Luis Guilherme, and Wes Foderingham. The club finished ninth in the Premier League last season and missed out on European qualification. With Lopetegui at the helm, the Hammers are looking to strengthen their squad and improve their performance in the upcoming season.
