Everton Football Club is targeting Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie as a replacement for Amadou Onana, who is set to move to Aston Villa in a £50m deal. McKennie, a 25-year-old American midfielder, has already played in the Premier League and could be a good fit for Everton. He had an important role at Juventus last season, playing 38 games and registering ten assists, including seven in Serie A.

McKennie’s creative numbers are impressive, and he could form an excellent link-up with Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin. He averaged 0.97 passes into the penalty box and 0.38 crosses into the penalty box per game last term, which could complement Calvert-Lewin’s instinct in the penalty box.

Football talent scout Jacek Kulig has called McKennie “underrated,” and Jesse Marsch has hailed him as an “incredible” player. He would be a cheaper alternative to Onana, but one who still brings quality in the middle of the park. This could see the birth of an exciting new partnership with Calvert-Lewin.

Everton has made contact with Juventus to inquire about potentially adding McKennie to their squad this summer. The Italian giants are willing to let him leave, and he could cost around £19m, which is consistent with his value. McKennie is not the only destination, as Inter Miami also wants to recruit him in a deal that would see him link up with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.
