Romano confirmed the news on social media, stating: “Eintracht Frankfurt are set to sign Rasmus Kristensen, exclusive story confirmed. Deal imminent.” He added: “More details on Rasmus Kristensen to Eintracht Frankfurt. Deal done on season-long loan with option to buy clause included. Value of buy option clause is £15m. Medical tests tomorrow, exclusive story confirmed. Here we go.”
Kristensen’s move to Frankfurt comes after a disappointing spell at Leeds, where he struggled to make an impact in his first season. He was subsequently loaned to Roma, but failed to meet expectations. The right-back was also excluded from the Europa League squad, further highlighting his struggles.
Despite interest from his former club FC Midtjylland, Kristensen has opted to join Frankfurt, turning down the opportunity to return to his boyhood club. According to Romano, Kristensen stated that it was “too soon” to join Midtjylland at this stage in his career.
The move to Frankfurt will see Kristensen reunite with defender Robin Koch, and the Danish international will be hoping to revive his career in the Bundesliga. With the option to buy included in the loan agreement, Frankfurt have the opportunity to make the move permanent if Kristensen impresses.
Leeds United have already sold six players this summer, with Archie Gray joining Tottenham for £40m and Glen Kamara moving to Rennes. Kris Klaesson, Diego Llorente, Marc Roca, and Charlie Cresswell have also left the club, while Jack Harrison, Sonny Perkins, Sam Greenwood, and Darko Gyabi have gone on loan.
