Deal Agreed; Contract about to be signed as ‘Dangerous’ young attacker becomes West Ham’s 4th Summer Signing

West Ham United is close to signing Jhon Duran, a 20-year-old Colombian attacker, from Aston Villa for a fee of around £35m. According to journalist Pipe Sierra, a verbal agreement has been reached between the clubs, and the documentation is expected to be finalized soon.

Duran has shown his potential at Villa Park but has struggled to get playing time due to Ollie Watkins’ role as the starting striker. West Ham’s new head coach, Julen Lopetegui, has identified the need for a new striker, with Michail Antonio being 34 and Danny Ings not meeting expectations.

Lopetegui aims to sign up to eight players this summer to strengthen the squad he inherited from David Moyes. The signing of Duran would be West Ham’s fourth summer signing, following the arrivals of Max Kilman and Luis Guilherme.

The addition of Duran would address West Ham’s glaring weakness in the squad and provide a physical presence and brilliant ball-striker. This signing would be a significant step towards achieving Lopetegui’s ambitions for the club.
