Sky Sports reporter Vinny O’Connor has provided an update on Jarrad Branthwaite’s future at Everton, stating that the club is not in a position to accept low-ball offers for the 22-year-old defender. Despite interest from European clubs, including Manchester United, who have had multiple bids rejected, Everton values Branthwaite at upwards of £70million or £80million.O’Connor believes that Everton would be naive to expect no further interest in Branthwaite this summer, but the club is not under pressure to sell. He cites the recent transfers of Harry Maguire, Gvardiol, and Wesley Fofana as examples of the market value for top-class defenders, which supports Everton’s valuation of Branthwaite.Sean Dyche, Everton’s manager, has stated that he expects Branthwaite to remain with the club for the whole of next season, unless an “outlandish offer” is made that the club cannot refuse. This suggests that Everton is holding strong on its transfer stance and will not be undermined by other clubs, particularly the “big six” teams in the Premier League. The update comes after Manchester United signed 18-year-old Leny Yoro from Lille, but O’Connor notes that Yoro’s recent injury, which will keep him out for three months, may lead to United attempting to sign another center-back. Given their previous interest in Branthwaite, it is possible that they may return with a new offer.Everton fans will still be concerned about Branthwaite’s future at the club, with reports suggesting that he is refusing to sign a new deal unless he is offered the same £160,000-a-week wage that Manchester United offered. However, the club’s strong transfer stance and valuation of Branthwaite suggest that they are committed to keeping him at Goodison Park.
