New Castle manager, Eddie Howe breaks silence on Kieran Trippier alleged move to Everton

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has broken his silence on the transfer speculation surrounding Kieran Trippier, amid reports linking the defender to Everton. Howe revealed that Trippier is “really valued” at Newcastle and expressed surprise at the recent reports suggesting the 33-year-old is in talks with Everton over a potential loan move.

Speaking ahead of Newcastle’s trip to face Bournemouth this weekend, Howe addressed the latest transfer speculation and relayed how he was unsure where the news had come from. “The situation is business as usual. Tripps has trained really well this week. I’m surprised by a lot of the stories that have come out. He’s a valuable member of the squad. His professionalism has been first class.”

Howe also highlighted Trippier’s limited training time since returning from the Euros, which explains why he didn’t start in their opening weekend victory over Southampton. “He’s only had two weeks of training, hence the reason why he didn’t start last week. He continues to be really valued by all of us. He’s just trained as normal and he’s been very good.”

Meanwhile, Everton manager Sean Dyche has also commented on the situation, joking that Trippier’s name has come up “by magic” given the club’s current right-back situation. Dyche acknowledged that Trippier is one of many names linked to the club but expressed skepticism about further signings. “The club seems pretty steadfast with the business that we’ve done… I think it’s unlikely [we’ll make more signings].”

Everton has already made four signings this summer and is close to agreeing on a move for Asmir Begovic. However, the club’s current right-back situation is bleak, with injuries to Nathan Patterson and Seamus Coleman and the suspension of Ashley Young. Dyche’s comments suggest that while Trippier is a potential target, the club is not actively pursuing further signings at this time.
