The Hammers are looking to strengthen their attack with the addition of the 26-year-old England international, who has previously played for Chelsea, Aston Villa, and Bristol City.
Abraham has a impressive goalscoring record in English football, with 30 goals in 82 appearances for Chelsea and 26 goals in 40 games for Aston Villa. He has also netted 26 goals in 48 games for Bristol City.
West Ham’s bid for Abraham is reportedly around €23m (£20m), which is significantly less than the £34m Roma paid to sign him from Chelsea in August 2021. The Italian club is willing to sell Abraham for financial reasons, making him an attractive option for West Ham.
The Hammers have already made nine signings this summer, including Crysencio Summerville and Niclas Fullkrug, but manager Julen Lopetegui is keen to add another striker to his squad. Abraham’s addition would provide a long-term option for West Ham, as he is five years younger than Fullkrug.
However, some West Ham fans may be cautious about signing Abraham due to his recent injury history. He suffered a serious knee injury last season, which limited him to just one goal in 12 appearances. But if the club can ensure that he is fully recovered and unlikely to suffer any setbacks, this could be a shrewd signing for just £20m.
