Celtic FC is on the verge of signing Barcelona left-back Alex Valle on a season-long loan, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. The 20-year-old Spaniard is set to undergo a medical in Glasgow today and will join the Scottish giants on a temporary move with no option to buy.

This signing comes as Celtic prepares for a busy Champions League campaign and seeks to bolster their squad before the transfer deadline. Valle, who has yet to make a first-team appearance for Barcelona, spent last season on loan at Levante in the Spanish second tier and is eager to gain more experience.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has admitted that this week will be crucial for the club, with several signings expected to be made. Meanwhile, Manchester City has held internal talks over signing Celtic star Kyogo Furuhashi, according to Romano. The Premier League champions are monitoring the 29-year-old center-forward’s situation at Parkhead and could step up their interest before the transfer deadline. Furuhashi has been instrumental for Celtic since joining from Vissel Kobe three seasons ago, scoring 73 goals and registering 16 assists in 136 appearances.

Celtic is keen to keep hold of their star forward and fend off interest from Manchester City. However, the English heavyweights may test the Scottish club’s resolve with a lucrative offer.
