Austute ManCeltic FC is eyeing a move for Lazio and Denmark star Gustav Isaksen before the summer transfer window closes, but transfer expert Fabrizio Romano suggests that a deal won’t be easy to land due to Isaksen’s importance to Lazio.
Brendan Rodgers and Celtic are looking to add firepower to their forward line, and Isaksen, a 23-year-old right winger, has been earmarked as a potential option. However, Lazio’s strong negotiating position, thanks to Isaksen’s contract until 2028, means they can hold out for their asking price.
Isaksen has racked up just 43 minutes of Serie A action this season but proved his potency in front of goal with a strike against Udinese. Despite his lack of game time, Celtic is interested in signing him, but The Scottish Sun reports that Isaksen is keen to stay and fight for his place at Lazio.
Romano stated that landing a deal with Lazio won’t be simple, given Isaksen’s importance to the Serie A side. Celtic has also tabled a £5 million bid for Sheffield United’s Auston Trusty, but the English club is hesitant to let him leave.
Celtic’s pursuit of Trusty could be boosted by the money earned from Matt O’Riley’s departure. Meanwhile, talks are ongoing for Celtic to sign their “top target” this summer, according to Romano.
Celtic has also completed the signing of Barcelona youngster Alex Valle, and the Hoops are in the running to sign Croatia star Josip Brekalo, thanks to their financial resources after selling O’Riley.
