Exclusive: Everton Rejects Swap Deal Involving £210,000-a-Week Trio
Everton FC rejected a swap deal involving Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Chelsea’s Axel Disasi and David Datro Fofana, according to sources. The deal would have seen Calvert-Lewin join Chelsea, with Disasi and Fofana moving to Everton.
The Toffees were unwilling to sanction Calvert-Lewin’s departure, despite Chelsea’s interest in the striker. Calvert-Lewin has entered the final months of his £100,000-per-week contract, making him a free agent at the end of the season.
Chelsea were keen to include Disasi and Fofana in the deal, but Everton were not interested. The duo has been frozen out of Chelsea’s plans since Enzo Maresca’s appointment as head coach.
Everton had already signed a new center-back, Jake O’Brien, and were not in need of Disasi’s services. Fofana has struggled to show he can replace Calvert-Lewin as a first-choice striker.
The rejected deal highlights Everton’s determination to keep Calvert-Lewin, despite his uncertain future. The striker has been a key player for the Toffees, scoring two goals in the first three Premier League games of the season.
