“He will be in line with the club’s top earner” – Celtic ready to offer BETTER deal to star player; releases OFFICIAL statement.

Celtic is set to offer Alistair Johnston an improved contract, bringing him in line with the club’s top earners. Johnston, who signed a five-year deal in January 2023, has been a key player for Celtic, delivering the domestic double and impressing on the international stage with Canada.

The club has already made initial contact with Johnston’s representatives to discuss the new deal, which would extend his existing contract and provide improved terms. Johnston’s current contract was signed when he first arrived at Celtic from CF Montreal two years ago.

Celtic has a history of tying up their top stars on long-term contracts, with Callum McGregor, Reo Hatate, Daizen Maeda, Kyogo Furuhashi, Matt O’Riley, and Cameron Carter-Vickers all receiving improved deals last season.

Manager Brendan Rodgers is keen to bring Johnston in line with the club’s top earners, and the new deal would reflect his importance to the team. Johnston picked up a hamstring injury during the international break, and Rodgers is expected to provide an update on his fitness at a media conference on Friday.
