“Thank Goodness,he turned down Everton job BUT…” – Manager who REJECTED Everton job in 2022 is NOW Struggling in His Managerial Career….

Everton Dodged a Bullet: Wayne Rooney’s Managerial Struggles

Everton fans may be critical of Sean Dyche’s tenure, but they can breathe a sigh of relief that Wayne Rooney turned down an interview for the job in 2022. Rooney, an Everton legend, revealed in The Guardian that Farhad Moshiri approached his agent about the vacant position.

Rooney’s managerial career has been underwhelming, to say the least. After bursting onto the scene as a teenager at Everton, he struggled to replicate his playing success in management.

His stints at Derby County (1.18 and 1.14 points per game), DC United (1.04), and Birmingham City (0.67) were disappointing. Now at Plymouth Argyle, Rooney’s 1.27 points per game is tied with Dyche’s current record at Everton, which some fans consider underwhelming.

Given Rooney’s lack of experience and tactical acumen, it’s clear that Everton dodged a bullet. The Premier League demands more, and Rooney’s struggles suggest he’s not ready for the top tier.

Dyche, despite criticism, has kept Everton afloat, and new owners may aim higher. Rumors of David Moyes’ potential return aside, Everton fans should be grateful that Rooney declined the opportunity to manage the club.

Rooney’s playing legacy remains intact, but his managerial career requires significant improvement before he’s considered for a top-flight job.
