Celtic Legend Chris Sutton Praises Brave Defensive Display Against Atalanta

Celtic legend Chris Sutton has praised the team’s brave and organized defensive display in their 0-0 draw against Atalanta in the Champions League.

Although Sutton refused to celebrate the draw, he acknowledged the team’s impressive performance, particularly from goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel and defenders Auston Trusty and Liam Scales.

Sutton wrote on X: “No celebrating a draw like others do… but a brave, organised defensive display from Celtic. Schmeichel a top-class goalkeeper and some of the last-ditch defending was excellent from Trusty and Scales.”

He also commended Brendan Rodgers’ decision to play Adam Idah as the striker, calling it “a bit of pragmatism.”

Celtic’s result has earned them four points from three Champions League matches, marking a solid start to their campaign.

Former Celtic players Tam McManus and Neil Lennon also praised the team’s performance, with Lennon describing it as “one of the best” in Rodgers’ career.

Celtic will now focus on their league match against Motherwell on Sunday.

Sutton’s comments highlight the team’s resilience and determination, demonstrating their ability to compete against top-tier opposition.

As Celtic continues their Champions League journey, Sutton’s praise underscores the significance of their result and the excitement surrounding the club.

With their European adventure gaining momentum, Celtic fans will eagerly anticipate their upcoming fixtures.

The Scottish Champions’ defensive display has set a high standard, and Sutton’s comments will only fuel the anticipation for their next matches.
