Ademola Lookman to West Ham Update
Transfer Correspondent Pete O’Rourke reports that West Ham faces significant competition for Atalanta star Ademola Lookman’s signature. According to sources, the Irons are ready to swoop for the Nigeria international in the January transfer window, but they will find it difficult to compete with other European clubs.
Reports suggest that Paris Saint-Germain will be the frontrunner for the forward if he becomes available in the coming months. Additionally, West Ham’s big-money summer signings Crysencio Summerville and Luis Guilherme play in the same area of the pitch as Lookman, which may impact the club’s pursuit of the 27-year-old.
Lookman has raised his stock with impressive displays for Atalanta since joining from RB Leipzig in 2022. He finished 17th in the Ballon d’Or rankings this year after leading the Italian side to a Europa League title last term. This season, he has already hit five goals and contributed five assists in 10 games across all competitions.
The forward, who is under contract until June 2026, had an impressive campaign last season, scoring 17 goals and notching 10 assists in 45 appearances. However, West Ham’s slow start to the season, currently sitting 13th in the Premier League after nine games, and their lavish spending in the off-season may limit their ability to make significant signings in January.
West Ham’s interest in Lookman is clear, but securing his signature will be challenging. With PSG and other European clubs circling, it remains to be seen whether the London club can pull off a major coup in the transfer market.
In recent months, Lookman has established himself as one of the top players in Serie A, and his performances have caught the attention of top clubs across Europe. While West Ham fans may be excited about the prospect of signing Lookman, the reality is that the club faces an uphill battle to secure his signature.
Only time will tell if West Ham can overcome the competition and sign Lookman, but for now, PSG appears to be in the driver’s seat.
