Sport Nation 2Rangers legend Nacho Novo has expressed his desire for Motherwell wonderkid Lennon Miller to join Rangers instead of Celtic. Novo, who played for Rangers from 2004 to 2010, believes Miller would be an excellent addition to the Ibrox squad.
Novo’s comments come after Miller, 18, impressed scouts from several English Premier League clubs while on Scotland youth international duty. Celtic and Rangers have also been linked with the talented youngster.
“I played with his dad, Lee Miller, at Carlisle United, and he was a good striker,” Novo said. “I would love it if Rangers signed him because he’s very good and very mature for his age. He’s only 18, but he looks like an experienced player. He can only get better and better.”
Novo’s own experience of choosing between Celtic and Rangers may have influenced his opinion. In 2004, Novo opted to join Rangers instead of Celtic, a decision he described as the best of his career.
Rangers are currently nine points behind Celtic and Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership table, increasing the pressure on manager Philippe Clement. Novo believes Clement can still turn the season around but acknowledges the challenge ahead.
“I hope Philippe Clement can turn Rangers’ season around,” Novo said. “It’s very tough at the moment. He’s the manager, and we need to support him. Hopefully, he’ll change something. If he leaves, then who are they going to bring? That’s another question. It needs to be the right person.”
Novo also expressed his support for Rangers striker Cyriel Dessers, who has faced criticism for his performances. “Dessers is a good player,” Novo said. “Ally McCoist used to tell me that you only need to worry when you’re not creating any chances. As long as you’re getting in areas and creating chances, even if you miss, you’re doing something right.”
As Rangers look to strengthen their squad, Novo’s endorsement of Lennon Miller may be seen as a boost to their chances of signing the talented youngster.
