Rangers Boss Philippe Clement Refuses to Give Up on Title Hopes Despite Dropped Points

Rangers manager Philippe Clement has issued a defiant message to Celtic and Aberdeen, insisting that his side will not give up on their Scottish Premiership title hopes despite dropping points against Dundee United.

The Light Blues were held to a 1-1 draw at Ibrox, with Vaclav Cerny’s equalizer canceling out Sam Dalby’s opener for the visitors. The result leaves Rangers eight points behind Aberdeen and 11 points adrift of Celtic, who can extend their lead further with a win over Hearts on Saturday.

However, Clement remains optimistic about his side’s chances, urging his players to maintain the level of performance they showed in the second half against Dundee United. “Fans can think what they want and that’s their right also,” Clement said. “I never give up if something is not possible. I see also what I see in the second half. Of course, it’s a big gap. You don’t know what other teams, how many points they lose along the way.”

Clement acknowledged that Rangers need to start winning games consistently if they are to have any chance of catching their rivals. “We need to get more points,” he emphasized. “You see also if you play like you played in the second half, you will get more points. We need to put that as a standard for the team, for everybody.”

The Rangers boss also highlighted the importance of his team’s mental toughness in the face of adversity. “We lose too many points, we’re not where we want to be as a club,” he said. “We knew that before this game. So, in that way, it’s two points lost again that we cannot lose. Last season, these kinds of games we won every time, even when it was difficult. We could push things over the line.”
