Newcastle United Firmly in the Mix to Sign ‘Tremendous’ £5m Player Ahead of Celtic

Newcastle United are searching for talented young players to add to their squad, and their latest target is Motherwell’s Lennon Miller. According to TBR Football insider Graeme Bailey, Newcastle are one of multiple Premier League clubs interested in signing the 18-year-old midfielder.

Miller is a tremendous prospect who has already made over 50 senior appearances for Motherwell, despite his young age. He has also captained the team and has four goals and four assists from 19 games this season. Miller is versatile and can play as both an attacking midfielder and a defensive midfielder.

Celtic and Rangers were initially interested in signing Miller, but now they face competition from Premier League clubs like Newcastle United. Bailey believes that Newcastle’s interest in Miller is genuine, and they are firmly in the mix to sign him.

“He is a tremendous prospect,” Bailey said. “Celtic and Rangers were hoping he was still under the radar a little bit, as they thought it would be a battle between them two. But the English teams have really started to flock over the past six to eight weeks. I am told that more than half of the Premier League are looking at Lennon Miller, while Leeds United are also watching him.”

Bailey believes that Newcastle’s history of developing young players makes them an attractive option for Miller. “Newcastle like him. They really have a good history now of picking up these 18 and 19-year-olds. Newcastle have watched him and like him. He can play anywhere in midfield. Newcastle are firmly in the mix, and it will be up to the player.”

The transfer fee for Miller could be around £5 million, which Bailey believes is a risk worth taking. “He is potentially one of the best young players in Scotland, and we are talking about a deal worth probably a maximum of £5 million,” he said. “That does not even get you a good Championship player nowadays. That’s why Scottish football is getting a lot of interest now, there’s value up there.”

Bailey believes that Newcastle would see Miller as a player for the future, but not necessarily the distant future. “You have got to take a chance on some of these players. It feels like a no-brainer. For Newcastle, they would see him as one for the future, but not necessarily the distant future.”
