Glasgow Rangers’ Alcohol Tent at Ibrox Stadium Gets Green Light for Celtic and Spurs Clashes
Glasgow Rangers have been granted permission to serve alcohol from a marquee at Ibrox Stadium for two high-profile matches. The pop-up tent, which was previously erected in April for an Old Firm game, will be open for the Europa League clash with Tottenham Hotspur on December 12 and the Scottish Premiership match against Celtic on January 2.
The club was awarded an occasional license for alcohol sales in the Edmiston House car park marquee by the city’s licensing board. Police Scotland imposed conditions, including a limit of four drinks per person per transaction, to ensure public safety.
Rangers’ lawyer, Stephen McGowan, emphasized the club’s goal to “enhance hospitality and the matchday experience” for fans. The marquee, which has a 200-person capacity, will operate on a pre-booked basis only, with no walk-ins allowed. Food will be available, and the hospitality area will be open before and after the games, with low-level music playing.
Inspector Gareth Griffith confirmed that there were “no issues” related to the tent during the April 7 Old Firm match, which McGowan described as a “success.”
The arrangements are designed to provide an enhanced experience for Rangers fans, while ensuring responsible alcohol consumption and public safety.
