Celtic Transfer News: Enzo Maresca Admits £20m Chelsea Player Could Leave Amid Hoops Links

As the January transfer window approaches, Celtic is expected to be linked with several players. One player who has been recently linked to the Hoops is Chelsea’s Carney Chukwuemeka.

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has admitted that Chukwuemeka, who has struggled to break into the Chelsea team, might be thinking of leaving Stamford Bridge. Maresca’s comments come after Chukwuemeka was linked with a loan move to Celtic.

Speaking at his press conference ahead of Chelsea’s clash with Everton, Maresca said: “There are players that unfortunately didn’t play a lot with us in all the competitions like (Ben) Chilwell, like Carney (Chukwuemeka).

“Probably they are the first [to say] that they want to leave because they train every day, because they want to play games and if they don’t play games probably they are thinking of leaving.”

Maresca added that each player’s situation is different, and Chelsea will try to find a solution for those who want to leave.

Chukwuemeka’s Stats: Do They Make Good Reading for Celtic Fans?

At just 21, Chukwuemeka has plenty of years ahead of him to become an established first-team player. But how do his stats match up at both Aston Villa and Chelsea?

According to Transfermarkt, Chukwuemeka has made 16 appearances for Aston Villa, scoring no goals and providing one assist. For Chelsea, he has made 32 appearances, scoring two goals and providing one assist.

While Chukwuemeka’s stats may not be impressive, he has shown glimpses of his talent and potential. However, his £100,000-per-week salary at Chelsea could prove to be a stumbling block for Celtic, unless Chelsea agrees to pick up the majority of his salary.

Celtic’s Interest in Chukwuemeka

Celtic’s interest in Chukwuemeka comes after James Forrest’s latest injury. With the Hoops winger facing a spell on the sidelines, Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers may be tempted to dip into the transfer market and bring in another winger as backup.

While Chukwuemeka’s stats may not make him an obvious choice, his potential and talent could make him an attractive option for Celtic. However, the Hoops will need to negotiate with Chelsea and agree on a deal that works for both parties.

As the January transfer window approaches, Celtic fans will be eagerly watching to see if the Hoops can bring in some new talent to strengthen their squad.
