Alexandro Bernabei Celtic Exit Talk Takes Fresh Twist as Internacional Issue Ultimatum
Alexandro Bernabei’s time at Celtic has been a topic of discussion for quite some time now. The Argentine defender was signed by the Hoops in 2022 for around £2.5 million, but he struggled to make an impact in Glasgow.
As a result, Bernabei was sent out on loan to Internacional in Brazil, where he has been enjoying a remarkable spell. The 24-year-old has been one of the standout performers for Internacional, and his impressive displays have not gone unnoticed.
Bernabei was recently named in the Brazilian Serie A’s team of the season, a prestigious honor that highlights his impressive form. His performances have also caught the attention of other clubs, with Palmeiras reportedly waiting in the wings to sign him if a deal with Internacional falls through.
Internacional, however, are keen to keep Bernabei and have been in talks with Celtic over a permanent switch. The Brazilian club’s sporting director has confirmed that negotiations are ongoing, but it appears that they are growing weary with the pace of the talks.
According to reports in Brazil, Internacional have issued Celtic a ‘take it or leave it’ deal for Bernabei. The Brazilian club are reportedly willing to pay around £8 million for the defender, but they want a decision from Celtic soon.
If Celtic fail to agree to the deal, Palmeiras are reportedly waiting to pounce. The Brazilian giants have been bankrolled by businesswoman Leila Pereira, who has been named among the top 10 richest people in Brazil.
Palmeiras would seemingly have little difficulty in raising the funds to sign Bernabei, and they are reportedly willing to pay a similar fee to what Internacional are offering.
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has already addressed Bernabei’s future, stopping short of confirming whether or not the defender might be given another opportunity to play for the Hoops.
Rodgers said: “I think it’s great that he’s gone away and done well, and sometimes you just find that. I think he’d been here for a period of time, it hadn’t worked out as probably what he or the club would have wanted, and sometimes that happens.
“You go away, you go back into a different culture or a different life, and back into obviously South America for him, and the reports that I hear is that he’s done well. But there’s nothing more to add than that. He’ll finish his spell there, and then we’ll look at that and see where that’s at come January.”
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Bernabei, but one thing is certain – he has a number of options available to him. Will he stay with Internacional, or will he join Palmeiras or another club? Only time will tell.
As the January transfer window approaches, Celtic fans will be eagerly waiting to see what business their club does. Will they sell Bernabei, or will they bring him back to Glasgow? The next few weeks will be crucial in shaping the Hoops’ season.
In other Celtic news, the club has been linked with several transfer targets in recent weeks. Rodgers will be looking to strengthen his squad in the January transfer window, and it will be interesting to see who he brings in.
One thing is certain – Celtic will be looking to maintain their dominance in Scottish football. The Hoops are currently top of the Premiership table, and they will be eager to stay there.
The coming weeks will be crucial for Celtic, both on and off the pitch. Will they sell Bernabei, or will they bring him back to Glasgow? Will they sign some new players to strengthen their squad? The answers to these questions will have a significant impact on the club’s season.
