Leeds United attacker Joe Gelhardt has revealed his excitement over his loan move to Hull City, stating that he is eager to regain the “matchday feeling” that has eluded him at Elland Road.
The 22-year-old has joined the Championship side on a loan deal until the end of the season, marking his second spell away from Leeds United. Gelhardt’s opportunities were limited at Elland Road, with just two appearances in the first half of the season.
In an interview with Hull City’s official website, Gelhardt expressed his enthusiasm for the loan move, citing his desire to play regular football and contribute to the team’s success.
“It’s a happy moment for me,” Gelhardt said. “I’ve spoken to the manager about the plans and direction the club is going in, and I couldn’t wait to get started and get playing.”
Gelhardt revealed that Hull City manager Liam Rosenior sees him playing off the nine, possibly on the right or just behind the striker. The young attacker is eager to make a significant impact, both in scoring goals and providing assists for his teammates.
“My best positions are as a striker or just behind the striker, trying to help assist and score goals for the team and trying to win games,” Gelhardt explained. “Every footballer wants to train hard all week and get rewarded with playing on the weekend.”
Gelhardt’s loan move to Hull City is seen as an opportunity for him to regain his form and confidence, having made six goal contributions in 20 appearances during his previous loan spell with Sunderland.
Hull City will be hoping that Gelhardt’s contributions can help them avoid relegation, as they currently sit in a precarious position in the Championship table.
