Polish tennis stars Iga Swiatek and Hubert Hurkacz are set to reunite as a doubles team for this year’s Eisenhower Cup, with their sights firmly set on claiming the coveted title and a substantial $200,000 prize.
The duo, who first paired up at the 2023 United Cup, will face stiff competition from a star-studded field, including Elena Rybakina and Taylor Fritz, Madison Keys and Tommy Paul, and Emma Navarro and Ben Shelton.
Swiatek and Hurkacz have already enjoyed success together, boasting a 6-1 record as a duo. Their partnership has been marked by impressive chemistry and a clear understanding of each other’s strengths and weaknesses.
“It was amazing. It was the first time I had the opportunity to play with Hubi,” Swiatek said of playing doubles with Hurkacz. “When he serves, it’s the best feeling ever. I don’t have to do anything on the volleys, so I love it! He gives a lot of positive energy and I am the one who usually needs it.”
The Eisenhower Cup, held annually at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, features a unique Tie-Break Tens format, with each match played to 10 points. The event has become a popular fixture on the tennis calendar, attracting many of the world’s top players.
Last year, Navarro and Shelton emerged victorious, while Swiatek and Hurkacz fell just short in the 2023 final, losing 8-10 to Aryna Sabalenka and Fritz.
This year’s event promises to be just as exciting, with a talented field and plenty of prize money on offer. Swiatek and Hurkacz will be determined to go one step further and claim the title, and with their impressive partnership and individual skills, they will undoubtedly be among the favorites to lift the Eisenhower Cup.
