QPR BOSS HAILS SHEFFIELD UNITED AS “BEST IN THE LEAGUE” AFTER NARROW DEFEAT

Queens Park Rangers manager Martí Cifuentes has praised Sheffield United as the “best team in the league away from home” after his side’s narrow 2-1 defeat at Loftus Road. Despite dominating possession and creating more chances, QPR were unable to overcome the Blades’ clinical finishing, with goals from Ben Brereton Diaz and Tyrese Campbell securing all three points for the visitors.

Cifuentes was proud of his team’s performance, but acknowledged that United’s quality had made the difference. “I fully think we created enough chances to score, but that’s the reality of football,” he said. “It’s about quality, not quantity. They got a really good second goal, but we could have done better with both of the goals.”

The QPR boss refused to blame United’s perceived financial advantage for their defeat, instead focusing on the positives of his team’s display. “It’d be easy for me to say that, but that’s football,” he said. “It doesn’t matter if you create 20 chances and don’t score or create two and score two. I feel very proud of my players, I thought we were dominant for many moments of the game and really pushed a team that’s the best team in the league away from home.”

Cifuentes’ praise for United is a testament to the Blades’ impressive form this season. With their sights set on promotion to the Premier League, United’s victory over QPR was a significant statement of intent. For QPR, the defeat was a setback, but Cifuentes remains optimistic about his team’s prospects. “We’re here to win games, no matter what,” he said. “When I look back at the game, I think we performed at a high level.”
