BIG NEWS FOR F1: AMERICAN BRAND APPROVED AS THE 11TH TEAM ON THE 2026 F1 GRID….

CADILLAC APPROVED AS 11TH FORMULA ONE TEAM IN ‘TRANSFORMATIVE MOMENT’ FOR THE SPORT

In a significant development for Formula One, Cadillac has received final approval to become the 11th team in the championship. The iconic American brand, backed by TWG Motorsports and General Motors (GM), has been given the green light to join the grid from the 2026 season.

The announcement was made jointly by the FIA, motorsport’s governing body, and Formula One. It marks a major milestone for the sport, with FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem hailing it as a “transformative moment”.

“I am proud to lead the Federation in this progressive step for the championship,” Ben Sulayem said. “GM/Cadillac brings fresh energy, aligning with the new FIA 2026 regulations and ushering in an exciting era for the sport.”

The team’s engines will initially be supplied by Ferrari, but GM has committed to building its own engine in the future. The new team will be a joint venture between GM and Dan Towriss, owner of US team Andretti Global.

Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula One, welcomed the addition of Cadillac to the grid. “As we said in November, the commitment by General Motors to bring a Cadillac team to Formula One was an important and positive demonstration of the evolution of our sport,” he said.

“I want to thank GM and TWG Motorsports for their constructive engagement over many months and look forward to welcoming the team on the grid from 2026 for what will be another exciting year for Formula One.”

The arrival of Cadillac marks a significant expansion of the Formula One grid, which has been static at 10 teams for several years. It is expected to bring new energy and investment to the sport, and provides a major boost to its growing popularity in the United States.

With its rich history and iconic branding, Cadillac is well-placed to make a major impact in Formula One. As the sport continues to evolve and grow, the addition of this new team is a significant step forward.
