Leeds United’s standout centre-back Pascal Struijk has emerged as a transfer target for Dutch Eredivisie side Feyenoord. According to reports, Feyenoord has initiated contact with Leeds over a potential move for the 25-year-old defender.
Struijk, who has been instrumental in Leeds’ push for promotion to the Premier League, is understood to have a £25 million price tag on his head. The Dutchman’s impressive performances have caught the attention of Feyenoord, who are keen to bring him back to his homeland.
However, Struijk’s previous statements suggest that he may not be tempted by Feyenoord’s advances. In a past interview, Struijk expressed his desire to play in the Premier League, citing it as the “best league in the world.”
“I was a bit nervous to play in my first Premier League game,” Struijk recalled. “I had to pull myself together for the game and make sure I was there and especially just enjoy the moment.”
“I don’t know how many times I’m going to play here, I hope a lot, but enjoy the moment, see how they are, see what level they are, try 100 per cent and try to be better than them.”
Struijk’s ambition to succeed in the Premier League may prove a significant obstacle for Feyenoord’s pursuit. Leeds, meanwhile, will be keen to retain the services of their star defender as they push for promotion.
With Struijk’s contract running until 2027, Leeds are in a strong position to resist Feyenoord’s advances. However, the lure of returning to his homeland and playing in the Champions League may yet prove tempting for the talented defender.
