Sport nationLeeds United player Rasmus Kristensen is close to agreeing personal terms with Eintracht Frankfurt, according to Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg. The 27-year-old right-back has been linked with a move away from Elland Road this summer, and it appears that Frankfurt are keen to sign him.
Kristensen is due to return to Thorp Arch for pre-season imminently after being granted extra time off due to his involvement at Euro 2024. However, it seems that his future may lie elsewhere, with Frankfurt interested in signing him.
Plettenberg has claimed that Kristensen is close to a ‘verbal agreement’ over personal terms with Frankfurt, and is indeed keen on the move. However, Leeds are demanding around £12.6 million to let him go, meaning a deal is still yet to be agreed between the two clubs.
There have also been ‘talks and ideas about a loan’, with Frankfurt keen to reunite Kristensen with his former Leeds teammate Robin Koch. If Leeds are to let him leave on loan again, they simply have to insist that an obligation-to-buy is included in the deal for next summer.
Clearly, it is never going to work for Kristensen at Leeds, and so there needs to be a permanent exit pathway for him in place. Leeds spent £10 million to sign Kristensen in 2022, and given the two years he has had, turning a profit on him would be incredible business.
However, it would appear that Frankfurt are reluctant to meet that asking price at this stage, with a deal not yet having been agreed. If Kristensen is to leave Leeds, it will be interesting to see how much the club can recoup for him.
