St Mirren is interested in signing Celtic defender Yuki Kobayashi, who has been out of the first team picture since the beginning of last season. The 24-year-old Japanese defender has made just seven appearances for Celtic since arriving from Vissel Kobe.
Kobayashi has struggled with the pace and physical nature of Scottish football, and Celtic appears to be proactive in finding him a new club. St Mirren, managed by Stephen Robinson, has European ambitions and is keen on bringing in the defender.
Celtic has a surplus of defenders, with Gustaf Lagerbielke, Stephen Welsh, and Maik Nawrocki ahead of Kobayashi in the pecking order. Kobayashi’s last appearance for Celtic was in September 2023, and he has not featured in a matchday squad since then.
