Erik ten Hag insists Manchester United were incorrectly denied a crucial goal in their defeat to Arsenal, claiming “everything” went against his side at the Emirates.
United were beaten 3-1 in an action-packed match in north London.
Marcus Rashford put the visitors ahead against the run of play before Arsenal immediately equalised through Martin Odegaard.
United thought they had scored a winner when Rasmus Hojlund, on debut, set up Alejandro Garncho.

But his goal was ruled out for offside following a VAR review, despite one angle appearing to show the Argentina in an onside position.
Arsenal capitalised on their good fortune – Declan Rice putting them ahead well into added time before Gabriel Jesus sealed the win to send the home supporters into delerium.
Speaking to Sky Sports after full-time, Ten Hag struggled to hide his anger – claiming all the major decisions went against him team.
“You saw the game. It was not offside. Wrong angle. It was a penalty on Hojlund,” said Ten Hag.

“And then we concede a goal where there is a foul on Jonny Evans, it’s so obvious.
“You can say ‘finish your chances and don’t concede a goal after you go 1-0 up’ – that’s true. But it is a step forward and I’m happy with the performance.”
“The performance was right. Everything went against us,” he added.

Man Utd player ‘axed from the dressing room’ by Erik ten Hag set to be offloaded by club
Manchester United are set to sell academy graduate Teden Mengi to Premier League newbies Luton Town ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline day.
Mengi, 21, has previously enjoyed loan spells in the Championship with the likes of Derby County and Birmingham City and was handed his senior United debut by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the Europa League back in 2020.
However, the centre-back has failed to make a single league appearance since making the step up from the academy and is now poised for a move to Kenilworth Road.
According to The Manchester Evening News, Luton have agreed a deal with United to sign Mengi on a permanent deal, with Erik ten Hag keen to free up space in his squad.

Mengi was one of five players who was reportedly ‘axed’ from the dressing room following an influx of new signings including Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund.
Back in September 2022, The Sun claimed Ten Hag was forced to cut ties with a number of current players after signing Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen, Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro, Antony and Martin Dubravka.
The report stated that the AON Training Centre’s first-team changing room was only able to accommodate a maximum of 24 players, meaning Mengi, Phil Jones, Axel Tuanzebe, Shola Shoretire and Brandon Williams were forced to use the U23 facilities.

Luton are also thought to be interested in Tuanzabe, claim The Mirror, with the 25-year-old having trained with the Hatters in an effort to win a contract with Rob Edward’s side after becoming a free agent this summer.
Jones and Williams have also left Old Trafford, while Shoretire has been linked with a loan move after impressing at League One side Bolton Wanderers during the second half of last season.
Despite Ten Hag’s efforts to get players off the books, the Dutchman is also keen on bringing in Marc Cucurella and Sofyan Amrabat on potential loan deals to help bolster his squad.

Why Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag wants to sign Marc Cucurella despite Chelsea woes
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has targeted Chelsea’s out-of-favour defender Marc Cucurella to fill the void at left-back. Here’s why.
United are exploring the possibility of signing a left-back in the last week of the transfer window to cover for Luke Shaw, who sustained a muscle problem against Tottenham that could keep the 28-year-old out until November.
It has been widely reported that Chelsea’s Cucurella, Tottenham’s Sergio Reguilón and Barcelona’s Marcos Alonso are all on Erik ten Hag’s shortlist as Shaw replacements.
As per the Guardian, any deal for the three, all fringe players at their respective clubs, would be on a temporary basis.

Indeed, Ten Hag’s other left-back option Tyrell Malacia, is also out for a prolonged period with injury.
For United’s 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest Ten Hag fielded Diogo Dalot at left-back, however, United are seeking a specialist in that position. Dalot’s recognised position is right-back.
United interest in Cucurella in particular has raised eyebrows among certain contingents of the United faithful after the Spaniard endured a disappointing first season at Stamford Bridge last term.

However, according to Gerrard Romero via Utddistrict, Ten Hag is a long-time admirer of Cucurella.
He and his staff allegedly have fond memories of the 25-year-old since the Dutchman’s former side, Ajax, took on Getafe in the Europa League in February 2020.
The Spanish outfit knocked out Ajax, who a season prior had been Champions League semi-finalists, 3-2 on aggregate, with Cucurella impressing across both games in the tie.
According to Fabrizio Romano on his YouTube channel, United have made direct contact with Chelsea to inquire about the conditions of a possible loan deal.

But while the Blues have confirmed they are open to allowing Cucurella to leave the club on loan, the move will allegedly not be “that easy” to finalise, due to conditions on the duration of the loan.
Moreover, United would also reportedly need to have internal discussions regarding how much they are willing to invest in the left-back position.

Manchester United broke a strict golden rule put in place under Sir Alex Ferguson when they appointed Erik ten Hag as manager last summer.
Ten Hag arrived at Old Trafford from Dutch giants Ajax, where he achieved significant amounts of success.
And while there were bumps in the road during his first season at United – including the devastating 4-0 defeat to Sevilla that knocked them out of the Europa League, and the 7-0 thrashing by Liverpool at Anfield – the campaign was deemed as a success by most supporters.
United won the Carabao Cup, reached the final of the FA Cup and secured Champions League qualification this season by finishing in the Premier League top four.

He has a further two seasons on his contract, including this one, although United do have the option to extend his deal by another year.
But when they appointed him to the role, United broke a golden rule that was introduced by Sir Alex Ferguson as far back as 2010.

In his 2015 autobiography, ‘Leading’, Ferguson recalled the transfer saga involving Wayne Rooney, who requested to leave the club before eventually agreeing to sign a bumper new contract.
The Scot said that he was asked by the club’s owners, the Glazer family, what he thought about Rooney earn twice as much as his annual salary.
He wrote (via The Guardian): “I told them I did not think it fair that Rooney should earn twice what I made, and Joel Glazer [co-owner] immediately said: ‘I totally agree with you, but what should we do?’
Ferguson then revealed how he agreed with the Glazers that no player should be paid more than him – and subsequently signed a new contract to reflect this.

But after Ten Hag’s appointment, the rule no longer appears to stand. According to reports, the Dutchman earns an annual salary of around £9 million per year at Old Trafford.
Data from football finance website Capology has revealed that nine players earn a higher figure than Ten Hag, including captain Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford, Raphael Varane, Harry Maguire and Mason Mount.
That number could reduce to eight by the end of the transfer window, however, as Maguire has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford.
But positions of power, from a financial context, have shifted further towards the players and away from managers in recent years – meaning it perhaps isn’t a surprise to see United stars earn more than Ten Hag.

Manchester United’s transfer priority has been revealed ahead of Friday’s deadline.
It has been widely reported that United are exploring the possibility of signing a left-back in the remaining days of the transfer window after the injury sustained by Luke Shaw against Tottenham, which could keep the 28-year-old out until November.
As per the Guardian, Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella, Tottenham’s Sergio Reguilón and Barcelona’s Marcos Alonso are all on Erik ten Hag’s list of targets.
However, any deal for the three, all fringe players at their respective clubs, would reportedly be on a temporary basis.

Indeed, United’s back-up left-back Tyrell Malacia, is also out for a prolonged period with an injury, with Ten Hag having played Diogo Dalot in that position in a 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Independent’s Miguel Delaney has claimed United are in talks with Lyon over a permanent move for Argentina international Nicolas Tagliafico.
While the Ligue 1 side want £5.15million plus bonuses for the World Cup winner, there is reportedly still some way to go in any deal, as United would prefer a loan.

That’s because according to the publication, the Old Trafford hierarchy would prefer to save any money for a midfield signing, which is their main priority ahead of the transfer window closing.
Despite having spent £150million this summer on Andre Onana, Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund, United have endured an unconvincing start to the season, despite wins over Wolves and Nottingham Forest.
And according to Sky Sports United have made “initial contact” over a deal for Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
The Denmark international has entered the final two years of his contract at Spurs, with the club allegedly open to the player leaving if a suitable offer were to come in. Hojbjerg was close to joining Atletico Madrid earlier this window.
