Celtic’s Arne Engels and Cameron Carter-Vickers Shine in 2-0 Win Over Hearts
Celtic FC continued their impressive start to the 2024/25 Scottish Premiership season with a 2-0 win over Hearts at Parkhead. New signing Arne Engels scored from the penalty spot and Luke McCowan added a second goal to secure the victory.
Engels, who joined from Augsburg for £11m in the summer, had a terrific afternoon, producing a fine performance. He scored from the spot, hit the post, completed 87% of his attempted passes, and created one chance in his 80 minutes on the pitch.
Central defender Cameron Carter-Vickers was also colossal for Celtic, winning 78% of his duels and making six interceptions. He provided a composed presence on the ball at the back, completing 89 of his 100 attempted passes and four of his six long pass attempts.
Celtic’s impressive defensive record continues, with the Hoops yet to concede a single goal in the top-flight this season. The win maintains their 100% start to the campaign, with five wins from five matches.
Engels and Carter-Vickers were the standout performers for Celtic, but other players also made significant contributions. Luke McCowan’s goal was a highlight, and Kasper Schmeichel’s clean sheet was his fifth in a row.
