SPFL Responds to Old Firm Ticket Dispute Between Rangers and Celtic
The SPFL has responded to the developing situation surrounding Celtic withholding away tickets ahead of their Old Firm clash with Rangers next month at Parkhead.
Following post-match incidents at Ibrox during the last derby meeting, the upcoming post-split fixture on May 10 is currently set to be played without any Rangers supporters in attendance. Celtic have opted not to provide an away allocation for the match.
After both clubs issued their responses, Scottish football’s governing body has now addressed the matter in a short statement published on its official website.
SPFL Statement in Full
“The SPFL today confirmed that it has received a request for a determination from Rangers in relation to their forthcoming William Hill Premiership match away to Celtic on Sunday 10 May.
This follows discussions between the two clubs failing to reach an agreement on the ticketing arrangements for the match and Celtic notifying Rangers that Celtic is not in a position to allocate any tickets to Rangers for visiting supporters for the match.
An SPFL spokesperson said: “The SPFL Board will now appoint a sub-committee to consider Rangers’ request for a determination under SPFL Rule I27.”
