“Expl0sive Comeback! Long-Term Celtic Defender Returns to Training – Hoops Fans Go Wild!”

Posted on May 1, 2026 by MrSport

Cameron Carter-Vickers might be out for the rest of the season, but there has been a small step forward ahead of Celtic’s trip to Easter Road to face Hibernian.
The defender appeared on Celtic’s Instagram story with a ball at his feet. It is the clearest sign in recent weeks that he is back out on the grass.

That comes not long after Martin O’Neill confirmed that both Carter-Vickers and Jota would miss the rest of the campaign. The plan around his Achilles injury has stayed consistent, with the focus on recovery rather than trying to bring him back early.

This sighting doesn’t change that timeline. It does show progress.

Being back on the pitch, even at a light level, marks a different stage in recovery. It suggests he has moved on from early rehab and into controlled football work as he builds back up.

O’Neill has already ruled out any return before the end of the season

For Carter-Vickers, the next step is about building things up carefully. An Achilles injury like this needs time. Any move towards full training has to be handled properly after such a long spell out.

Working with the ball is one part of it, but it is still separate from full team sessions. Matches bring different demands. Quick turns, sharp movements, and contact all put pressure on that area.

Celtic won’t rush it. The aim will likely be to have him ready for pre-season rather than pushing for the final few games now.

His absence has been clear throughout the season. The back four has had to adjust, with players filling in and taking on different roles.

Seeing him back on the pitch is a positive step, but it is still early in the process. The priority is making sure he returns fully fit, rather than risking any setback now.
