Arsenal could be without as many as eight players for the game away on the south coast this weekend as the Gunners travel to Bournemouth. Mikel Arteta was forced into a number of changes for the midweek win over Brentford with many of his usual starters out of action.
William Saliba and Fabio Vieira didn’t travel to west London with Arteta describing the former as having picked up a “knock”. These two join Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice, Thomas Partey and Jurrien Timber all currently out of the side.
It’s quite the lengthy list which has supporters questioning what could be the cause. Plenty of theories emerge and conspiracies arise about pitch hardness and training techniques.

Los Blancos have lost David Alaba to what is a short-term injury right before the pivotal Champions League clash with Napoli. The Italian provided his thoughts on the causes behind the frequency of issues the players are experiencing.
“David Alaba’s injury is not very serious, he could be ready against Napoli,” Ancelotti told reporters. “International breaks are the problems. The players are tired and there’s no time for recovery.”

There are three breaks before the turn of the year this season, the first was played in September, the second is in October and the third the following month in November. The crazy schedule in December then begins where players must play a vast number of fixtures in quick succession.
Many players will get little-to-no break and at the end of the current season either, with the European Championships set to kick off. The African Cup of Nations takes place early next year as well, whilst other international tournaments are also in play in 2024.
The UEFA Champions League is set to expand, as is the FIFA Club World Cup which will further increase the number of games for players to take part in. When does it end?
